My method
4 steps for every recommendation
How I go from a list of 200 toys to 3 picks I stand behind editorially.
Ludiktoy method: 4 steps to review a kids' toy
Sourcing: cast a wide net
Amazon France bestsellers, parent community feedback (forums, Reddit, Facebook), new releases from reference brands (Lego, Hape, Janod, Brio, Fisher-Price). I start with 100 to 200 candidates per age range.
Safety & materials filter
EN71 standard and CE marking required. Composition checked (no phthalates, no BPA, non-toxic paints). I eliminate 30 to 50% of candidates at this step.
Critical reading of reviews
I ignore the generic 5-star reviews and read the 3- and 4-star ones: those reveal the subtle flaws. I also look at reviews posted after 6 months of use — durability doesn't show out of the box.
Test, photo, write-up
For the monthly picks, I handle the final products myself. I write the verdict, list cheaper alternatives, raise red flags when they exist. No product recommended without being handled.
Toy guide updates: quarterly and systematic
Every guide is refreshed at least every 3 months: new items added, discontinued references removed, prices re-checked. Broken links flagged, outdated recommendations replaced.
No brand can buy a slot in a comparison guide. Sponsored content (labeled "In partnership with") is strictly separated and never influences my rankings. Learn more about how I earn.
